Joint side event by the EESC and the Government of Slovenia at the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF).
Purpose of the webinar:
The side event is organized in the context of the United Nations High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development. It will look into practical ways to accelerate a just transition to a circular and carbon-neutral economy in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) while engaging all sectors of the economy and society.
The event will feature initiatives at European, national, regional and local levels harnessing the transformative power of circularity to:
decarbonize the economy,
engage communities,
promoting wellbeing and prosperity for all.
The webinar will discuss how these initiatives can help rebuild the economy on these foundations after the COVID-19 crisis.

Ms Cliona Howie, Head of Circular Economy Climate KIC - presenting examples on how to leverage collective knowledge and expertise to ensure that post-Covid recovery is aligned with climate and SDG commitments
Ms Hatty Cooper, Circle Economy (The Netherlands), Member of the Coordination Group of the European Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform - introducing the ECESP and presenting examples of how to actively engage with various stakeholders in activities aiming at the circular economy transition at grassroots level
Mr Mark Hidson, Deputy Regional Director, Global Director Sustainable Procurement, ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability – presenting the perspective and examples of local governments' action on climate and circular economy
