5TH CIRCULAR CHANGE CONFERENCE #EVENT 3/5 - Management Congress 2020

3rd event of The 5th Circular Change Conference was a great success!

What have we seen and learned from this interesting 2-day journey full of interesting and fruitful workshops, discussions and panels?

That sustainability is becoming one of the most important topics across various business sectors and that it is being put in the core of strategic planning for many companies.

Key takeaways from a workshop with Danfoss on sustainability and the green recovery of businesses in the post-COVID:

  • During the COVID-19 crisis, we have experienced what (global) interdependency actually means - everyone counts

  • Communication is a key - empathy, transparency, expression of all kind of emotions - including fear - makes us stronger

  • Price is not the most important competitive advantage - trust is the most valued asset among partners in value chains

  • Sense of community and belonging - when working remotely, from home, being in lockdown, it becomes of crucial importance knowing, that we are a part of the community, that we have people to rely on

  • Leadership is crucial - it is not about managing people in a hierarchical way, it is about enabling and encouraging people to develop their potentials, to live their purpose, to flourish

In a panel discussion with Ladeja Godina Košir, managers presented how to live sustainable leadership:
Marko Lukić, Lumar hiše: "The basic postulate of sustainability is self-restraint. Even at the cost of business success."
Robert Agnic, Skaza - Exceeding Expectations: "When we changed values and put sustainability at the forefront, we - business-wise - took a step, two steps back, so we could then make four, five steps forward."
Zooullis Mina, Pivovarna Laško Union: "In PLU, we have given a structure to sustainability and set it as a strategic goal."
Tjaša Ficko, Deputy Mayor of the City of Ljubljana: "When you have a sustainable vision, for a breakthrough, such as the closure of the city center, you need courage."
Marián Šefčovič, Radenska: "Sustainability is a strong word. If we use it too much, it will lose its power. Therefore, we must act more sustainably and the results will speak for themselves."

Special thanks to our partners - Združenje Manager - Managers' Association of Slovenia, to all the speakers and those who collaborated to the event.

Big congratulations to Enzo Smrekar, Atlantic Droga Kolinska for being Manager of the Year 2020!
