Can PSL tool help you organize climate-friendly events?

At the begining of the year, our project manager Meta Pezdir participated in the training: Green events in practice organized by Conventa.
Her speech was titled "Less is more" - a phrase popularized by the bauhaus architect Mies and still used as a guideline to design elegant but functional elements.
The event offered truly inspiring presentations of good business practices and ideas for organizing more climate-friendly events.

Key takeaways are:

  1. "Green changes" need to be clearly communicated to the guests;

  2. Some ideas are better excepted when implemented slowly (e.g. vegetarian catering);

  3. A lot can be done to reduce the CO2 footprint from the transport - the organizer can offer the alternative, greener transport, provide info on alternatives, etc.;

  4. It is important to have some "green" KPIs because data help us to track the progress;

  5. Sustainability is more than a healthy environment. It includes also an inclusive society and a thriving economy.

The PSL tool that is being developed within the PSLifestyle Project can help us to bring the climate topics closer to our visitors. How? The tool enables them to calculate their CO2 footprint and suggests concrete actions to lower their emissions. This is an impactful way to create a personal connection to the “climate-topics” and make it tangible. The PSL tool will be launched in June 2023, so don’t forget to follow our LinkedIn and website news.

All in all, the presentations at the training showed that it is possible to organize climate-friendlier events. Where should we start? The written key takeaways above can be a good starting point.
