Kosovo Takes a Leap towards a Sustainable Future with the national Circular Economy Roadmap
The circular economy is not just a buzzword; it's a critical solution to our environmental problems. The model aims to reduce waste, minimize pollution, and promote the efficient use of resources. Recently, Kosovo took a leap toward a sustainable future by launching its national circular economy roadmap. Our founder and executive director Ladeja Godina Košir attended the event as a representative of our team which, together with Deloitte and the Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure Kosovo, co-created the mentioned document.
Prioritizing Key Sectors and Driving Forces in Kosovo's Circular Economy Roadmap
The Roadmap identifies six priority areas, including food and forest systems, the creative and retail sectors, the built environment, and the manufacturing sector. Given the strong interdependency of these sectors, the Roadmap also introduces horizontal areas that enable and support priority areas and further enable the circular transition. They encompass waste and water management, transport, green public procurement, digitalization and ICT, energy, and education for sustainable and circular practices.
Collaboration: The Key to Success in Kosovo's Circular Economy Transition
The circular economy roadmap for Kosovo is not just a document; it's a result of a collective effort of many stakeholders who contributed their knowledge, time, and ideas. However, the launch of the circular economy roadmap for Kosovo is just the beginning; the real work of implementation begins now. The roadmap identifies six priority sectors that have the most potential for the circular transition, however, implementing circular practices in these sectors will require significant effort, investment, and collaboration from all stakeholders.
