First Event of 2025 for Slovenian Bioeconomy Hub

We are thrilled to announce the successful organization of our first event of 2025, marking a significant milestone for the Slovenian Bioeconomy Hub. This event, held in collaboration with Anteja ECG, the Chamber of Economy, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, underscores our commitment to fostering sustainable economic growth through innovative biobased solutions.

Collaboration and International Dimension

The event, coordinated through the frameworks of the BIOEAST, CEE2ACT, and BIOLOC projects, was further enriched by the international dimension brought by our collaboration with the Circular Biobased Europe - Joint Undertaking (CBE-JU). The primary focus was on public finance for circular biobased solutions, a crucial area for advancing Slovenia’s bioeconomy.

Key Interventions from Industry Leaders

The event was opened with key interventions from Ms. Vesna Nahtigal, Director of the Chamber of Economy, and Mr. Ervin Kosi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Their insights set a strong foundation for the discussions that followed, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and innovation in driving the bioeconomy forward.

Announcement of Collaborative Efforts

A highlight of the event was the announcement of a collaborative effort among all participating organizations to steer the hub forward. Ms. Virginia Puzzolo from CBE-JU provided valuable insights into the requirements and guidelines for Slovenian businesses, especially SMEs, to successfully apply for CBE-JU funding under their annual call. Her presentation aimed to empower local businesses with the knowledge needed to secure essential funding for their innovative projects.

Introduction of B2B Matchmaking Platform

Anteja ECG introduced a B2B matchmaking platform, designed to support businesses in forming consortia and applying for projects, thereby enhancing their chances of success in the competitive funding landscape.

Engaging Roundtable Discussion

The event also featured an engaging roundtable discussion with key experts including Ladeja Godina Košir, Mateja Dermastija, Lea Lavrič, Blaž Likozar, Giorgio Mirri, and Prof. Luka Juvančič. The discussion covered vital topics, highlighting both the opportunities and challenges facing Slovenia in the realm of bioeconomy. The experts shared their insights on where the greatest potential lies and how to overcome existing obstacles.

Future Outlook

We were delighted to see more than 50 attendees at the event, representing a diverse range of sectors including businesses, public institutions, NGOs, entrepreneurs, and academia. This broad participation underscores the widespread interest and commitment to advancing Slovenia’s bioeconomy.

Looking ahead, we are excited to announce a second event scheduled for September, which will focus on private finance for circular biobased solutions. We are confident that these events will continue to drive momentum and foster collaboration among key stakeholders in Slovenia's bioeconomy sector.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all participants and collaborators for their contributions to this successful event. Together, we are paving the way for a more sustainable and prosperous future.

Stay tuned for more updates and join us in September for the next chapter in our journey towards a thriving bioeconomy in Slovenia!
