MIKSER FESTIVAL 2021, Belgrade, Serbia

 

12th Mikser Festival, held at the end of May in the Zornica Kuca near Belgrade, was a festival of hope and optimism, with a strong desire for creating a sustainable future after a pandemic, launching new initiatives and partnerships.

Seventy-two hours of uninterrupted dialogue between networked actors from almost all areas of social action defined the Mikser Festival 2021 as a call for a general mobilization of all progressive forces around the agenda for better air, cleaner water, healthier cities, circular economy, improved legislation, social solidarity, sustainable design and strengthened culture.

At the panel Circular economy for local development/Cirkularna ekonomija za lokalni razvoj Ladeja G. Košir presented an overview of circular economy in Western Balkans and EU, exploring potentials for collaboration between Nordics and Balkan region and the role of transition brokers for a successful circular economy transition.

The festival gathered entire Balkan creative and environmental scene in a multitude of talks, outdoor workshops, performances andexhibitions, in vivid exchange with international special guests: Volker Albus (German design critic and curator, author of the amazing Pure Gold exhibition: https://pure-gold.org/volker-albus/), Richard van der Laken (founder of What Design Can Do - just finished the global No Waste Design Challenge - https://www.whatdesigncando.com/), István Kenyeres (hungarian scientist and inventor, circular waste-water treatment guru, patented: Metabolic Network Reactor (MNR) technology which we are using in our new EU funded project euPOLIS, https://www.biopolus.net/technology/), Daniel Podmirseg (Austrian architect and founder of Vertical Farm Institute https://verticalfarminstitute.org/vertical-farming/), John Keneddy Mosoti (head of UN Population Fund - https://www.unfpa.org/), Will Coldwell (The Guardian contributor - https://www.willcoldwell.com/read-me).
